CIMScan has been used to monitor the appliances and areas where critical materials are stored in hospital blood banks and pharmacies for over a decade. We offer the longest list of off-the-shelf sensors of anyone else in the industry. In addition, the system is highly scalable from few points to many thousand. This means the CIMScan system can be easily and economically expanded as your needs grow.

In recent years we have applied our experience monitoring cleanrooms to IV drug preparation areas in the pharmacy (USP<797>). Scroll through the rest of this page to see the advanced features and capabilities that CIMScan offers.

MONITOR TEMPERATURE & A LOT MORE

The following are just some of the parameters that can be continuously monitored and recorded by a CIMScan Monitoring System:

  • Temperature in Refrigerators and Freezers
  • Temperature and Humidity in Operating Rooms, Labs, and Pharmaceutical Storage Areas
  • Differential Pressure in Pharmacy Cleanrooms used for IV Preparation
  • Particle Counts in Cleanrooms
  • Temperature, Humidity and Differential Pressure in Operating Rooms
  • Temperature and LN2 Levels in Cryogenic Freezers
  • Agitator Motion
  • Temperatures in Ovens and Incubators
  • Food Processing Temperatures and Temperatures in Steam Tables on Serving Lines
  • Temperatures in Dishwashers, Sterilizers, and Autoclaves

CRITICAL STATISTICS REPORTED

The following four hourly statistics are calculated for every monitoring point in CIMScan:

  • Average (arithmetic mean) calculated over the hour

  • Minimum value detected during the hour and the time it was detected

  • Maximum value detected and the time

  • A special user-defined statistic such as Mean Kinetic Temperature (MKT) or standard deviation

The statistics are determined at the remote device and transferred to the server at the end of each hour.

ALARMS DETECTED AND ALERTS GENERATED

Alert key personnel immediately via email, cellular text messaging, pager or, optionally, voice telephone if an abnormal condition is detected. The format of the alert messages is completely user-configurable and can contain real-time data such as current value, the type of alarm, the time that the alarm was detected, or the name and location of the appliance being monitored. A typical alert is shown below.

“An alarm condition has been detected with Freezer BF-23 located in room 212. The current temperature is -24 Degrees. The alarm limit is for -28 Degrees.”

The items in bold were automatically inserted into the user-defined message template. Message templates can be created on a group by group basis.

REAL-TIME DISPLAY

Log onto the system from any PC via a simple web browser and use the available charts, spreadsheets, and floor plan displays to determine the extent of the problems and how long they have existed. An annotated screenshot of a group values display is shown below.

Use the trend chart display to gauge the response time required.

Generate Reports

A user can click on the “Reports” menu to download one of the following built-in reports for one or more monitoring points in any group and over a user-specified period of time.

  • Group Status Report
  • Alarm History Report
  • Measurement Data Log Report
  • User Notes Report
  • Trend Report
  • Statistics Summary Report
  • Statistics Detail Report
  • Alarm Limits Change Report

Since all data is stored in a SQL database, users can easily generate their own custom reports using any one of the third party report generators available today.

COMPLIANCE

CIMTechniques has been ISO-9001/2008 certified since 2000. CIMScan meets all the guidelines set forth in 21 CFR Part-11. The system was developed using cGMP practices and provides a firm GLP and GCP foundation for your implementation. In addition, the system meets or exceeds the monitoring and reporting requirements dictated by the accreditation and regulatory agencies listed below.

  • JCAHO (now the Joint Commission)

  • USP (U.S. Pharmacopoeia)

  • AABB

  • CAP

  • FDA

  • USDA

  • HACCP

SIMPLE INSTALLATION

Generally speaking, the following four simple steps are all that are required to install a CIMScan monitoring point.

Each monitoring station is shipped to you with your server’s IP address pre-configured. All you need to do is what’s described above and press the service button on the monitoring station to acquire the new sensors. The sensors will then appear on the server in the unassigned sensors list.

EASY VALIDATION

A CIMScan-6 Monitoring System can be formally validated in a fraction of the time it takes with competitive systems. This is primarily because of CIMScan’s simple, straightforward architecture and the built-in validation tools provided. A complete IQ/OQ template package is available.

AVAILABLE SERVER SOLUTIONS

We offer three possibilities to implement the server for your system.

Server software to install on your computer

The CIMScan Server Software can be installed on your Windows-based server computer for a one-time license fee based on the number of monitoring points. Packages for 25, 100, 250, and an unlimited number of points are currently available.

Small Server with Software Installed

We can also supply a 10 or 25 point system installed on a small Windows XP computer and configured for your application. This is an ideal solution if you intend to purchase the components and install and commission the system yourself.

Your system hosted on our server

The least expensive monitoring system can be realized by utilizing our server for a small monthly fee. Four (4) packages are currently available to monitor up to 10, 25, 100, and 250 points. Every customer’s system is completely isolated from all other customers on the server. The alert delivery via voice telephone is included along with messaging via email, text messaging, and pager. Of course, we act as the system administrator for all systems hosted on our server.

MAINTENANCE

CIMScan, like any other precision instrument, needs care and attention to maintain reliability and accuracy. This, of course, requires time and therefore a cost is associated with it. To minimize this cost, CIMScan has been structured so that most of the routine maintenance and troubleshooting can be handled remotely, with on-site work required only for component replacement. A simple, relatively inexpensive support plan is available which allows us to act as the system administrator, utilizing your IT department for computer hardware issues and the clinical engineering or maintenance department for component replacement.
